Charlotte working on the rim of her tray during the Tray Sinking & Flat Hammering course, tutored by Ray Walton.

This January Charlotte returned to Snowdonia to complete another course as part of the Contemporary British Silversmiths Skills Training Programme. This time learning Tray Sinking and Flat Hammering, taught by master silversmith Ray Walton and again hosted by fellow silversmith Rauni Higson.

This year Charlotte was joined by silversmiths Angus McFadyen, Peter Musson and Jamie Hamper, and all were tasked with creating a simple small, round tray. An exercise that requires a great deal of precision and resulted in a greater understanding of how silver behaves under different stresses and conditions.
